Traditional heirloom from the Nara perfecture, Japan.
Long pencil type elongated red peppers from 10 to 15 cm.
The peppers hang down on the plant and look like strings or himo in Japanese.
Ripens from green to red. (often used in green stage)
Thin walled with a spicy taste, almost bitter, very low heat (or none). Perfect for salting or to recreate the famous Tohitashi dish.
Medium sized bushy plants, 60 - 75cm / 2ft - 2,5ft with very big yields.
